What is a Submerged Entry Nozzle?

2022 07/14

The Submerged Entry Nozzle is to lengthen the Tundish Nozzle and insert it into a certain depth below the surface of the molten steel to seal the pouring flow. The advantage of using a Submerged Entry Nozzle is that it isolates the jet stream from air and prevents the jet stream from affecting the molten.

Splashes on the surface eliminate secondary oxidation. By selecting the Tundish Metering Nozzle shape, the flow state of the molten steel in the mold can be adjusted, the separation of inclusions can be promoted, and the quality of the steel can be improved. It can be said that the use of Submerged Entry Nozzle Continuous Casting inlet protection slag casting has bought epoch-making progress to the development of continuous casting technology.

The shape of the Submerged Entry Nozzle mainly refers to the angle of the steel flow outlet, and there are generally four shapes, straight hole types, side holes up,side holes down and box types. Which one to choose depends on the pouring speed and the mold cross-section size.It is generally believed that the SEN protection slag technology is only suitable for large steel billets and slab continuous casting, but for blanks less than 150*150 mm,it is difficult to use this method, because the small cross-section,the size of the SEN is limited, and the drawing speed is fast, the liquid level fluctuation is large, and it is easy to cause slag rolling. The Ladle Shroud is located under the Ladle Collector Nozzle and is connected to the tundish.

The Submerged Entry Nozzle is attached to the mold under the tundish.

The shape of the Ladle Shroud For Sale is generally large, more than 1.2 meters, and the SEN is generally small, but the thin SEN in also very large.
